This course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of health and safety. It will introduce you to the basic principles of health and safety in the workplace, including hazards and risks. The course covers what health and safety means and why it is important in a working and learning environment. It identifies legal responsibilities and how health and safety law is enforced. The course also explains what a risk assessment is and the need for having a process for reporting injuries, ill health, unsafe conditions and accidents within the workplace. It includes display screen equipment (DSE), control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH), fire safety principles and manual handling safety at work.

At the end of the course learners will take an online multiple choice question assessment test. This online multiple choice question test is marked automatically so you will receive an instant grade and know whether you have passed the course. The pass mark is 70%.
